THE FACTORY

Made to Order

At Jerome Clothiers, we believe that the future of clothing is made-to-order or made-to-measure. As technology makes single unit production cost effective, faster and more accurate, the benefits for the consumer, the supplier and most importantly the environment are truly revolutionary. In addition to made-to-order’s inherent sustainability credentials, Jerome partners with manufacturers and suppliers who are committed to drastically improving how we produce and supply clothing.

Fashion has been continuing towards even cheaper manufacturing of the latest trends

In a lifecycle where we buy more items and wear each less often, before discarding them into landfill. At Jerome, as our garments are made to your customer’s precise measurements and design, customers receive exactly what they want, increasing the likelihood that they will wear it for longer. And while made-to-order is more expensive than mass production, the quality is superior, ensuring that garments will have a longer lifecycle.

The clothing industry has long had a wastage issue.

The industry now generates over 90 million tonnes of landfill and contributes 10 percent of global carbon emissions annually. Made-to-order circumvents unnecessary over production – and therefore waste – as well as the emissions that go into making a garment. As they say, ‘the most sustainable garment is the one that doesn’t get made’. If it doesn’t get ordered, then Jerome doesn’t make it. Our business model is also more sustainable for our retail partners, who don’t need to invest large sums of capital up-front in ready-to-wear stock.

In an effort to drive costs down, mass production often relies on unethical labour practices. In addition to exhibiting an exceptionally high level of quality, Jerome only works with suppliers who are committed to responsible production, including fair wages and a safe workplace.

Our manufacturing partners live these values. This includes providing strong working conditions, a commitment to protecting the environment with electricity coming from solar power, and the effective treatment of waste through unified municipal systems.
